Book Review: The Lady's Slipper: A Melody Mystery (American Girl Beforever Mysteries) by Emma Carlson Berne




Summary: It is the 1960's and  Melody is going to a festival with her cousin, Val . When they get there, Melody meets a 14 year old  Jewish girl named Leah and they become friends. 

All day Leah and Melody talk  but Leah seems to be hiding something . Not long after, Val and Melody began handing out flyers to give African Americans a home. While they where giving out signs, Melody notices Leah fighting with a someone.

Who is that person, what are they fighting about and what is Leah hiding? Find out in the book! 

Star Rating : 4 1/2 
Why? I like  this book because it is an interesting way to learn about the past and I also like it because it has a Jewish character in in the book. The main reason why I like it is because its a super interesting mystery book! 

Scary Scale: 1 (out of 10)
Why? The only reason why this book is scary is because they mention a church being bombed .

Book Review: Disney Desecendants 2 Junior Novel by Eric Geron



Summary: Mal , Evie, Carlos and Jay are the children of terrible villain's  but they have moved on since the Mal, daughter of Maleficent is about to become a lady of the court. 

Evie is a fashion designer , and Jay and Carlos are on the school's fencing team. They were all fitting in so well. Well, not all of them. Under all the pressure to be lady of the court is too much for Mal so she goes back to the Isle of the Lost where she grew up. When Ben and her friends find out, they go to the Isle of the Lost to bring her back ! 

Will Mal come back? Find out in the book!

Why? I Really like the book because it explains everything that happens the movie of Descendants 2 more clearly. For example, when there is someone whispering, I don't her it in the movie but I understand what happens in the book.

Why? Because there is no villain or ( scary) monster.

Book Review: Penny and her Marble by Kevin Henkes



Summary:  Penny and her doll Rose were walking on the side walk , when Penny finds a marble on Miss Goodwin's lawn. Not jut any marble:  a shiny and blue marble that looked like a piece of the sky. The marble was so pretty that Penny took it home. But does it really belong to her? Find out what happened in the book!



Star Rating : 5 stars 
Why? Because it is a really cute book about a mouse who finds a marble and takes it home, but later realizes it doesn't belong to her and gives it back.

Scary Scale: 0
Why? Because there are no parts of the book with fighting or monsters.

Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina Young Readers Edition by Misty Copeland



Summary Misty Copeland is an American ballet dancer, who was born in 1982. When she was 2 years old, her parents got divorced. She moved away with her mother and 3 older siblings. Later on, her mother remarried to another man and had another baby. Then her mother found out he was an alcoholic and left him. Later Misty went to middle school where she met her Boys & Girls Club teacher who told her to try ballet. At first, Misty didn't like it but as she continued, she began to like it. Not long after, her mother lost her job and they became poor. When her ballet teacher found out, she offered for Misty to live with her and she agreed. Many years later, Misty became a professional ballet dancer. She was invited to be part of the abt dance company and was in the Chocolate Nutcracker ( an African American nutcracker) and was in lots of other ballets throughout the book including the Fire Bird and Sleeping Beauty.
Star Rating: 5 stars Why? Because it is a very interesting book about a professional dancer who had a hard life at first but overcame it and reached her dreams. Scary Scale 1-10: 1 The only reason why this book was scary was because her mother married an abusive man, but later they got away from him.

Book Review: Full House Stephanie The Boy-Oh-Boy Next Door



Summary : When Stephanie Tanner sees her new neighbor Eddie she immediately falls in love and writes him a love letter. When Stephanie's big sister DJ put her letter in his locker at school, he thinks its from DJ.  Eddie gets upset since DJ says she didn't really mean what she said in the letter. Stephanie knew she had to do some thing but she was also embarrassed to tell him. What will Stefanie do next? Find out in the book! 



Star Rating: 4 1/2 stars (out of 5) 
Why? Because it is a book about a tv show I like that is from 30 years ago but I  also like it  because it is an interesting book.

Scary Scale (between 1-10): 1
Why? The only reason why its scary is because Stefanie's mom died , but they only say it once in the beginning of  the book and she doesn't die in the story but she died before the story.

Book Review: High School Musical: The Junior Novel by N.B. Grace




Summary : On New Years Eve, Troy Bolton, the captain of the high school basketball team, and his dad, the coach of his highschool basketball team, were playing basketball. They were playing in a hotel gym when Troy's mom came in and convicted him to go to the hotel's new year party for teens. 

Troy wasn't very interested in attending a party so he sat on the side. Meanwhile, not to far away, Gabriella Montez curled up reading a book, when her mom took it out of her hand and convinced  her to go. She was convinced  when she saw  the sparkly dress her mom had laid out. 

At the party, almost every one was having fun except for Troy and Gabriella . Thing livened up because the  party had karaoke and the DJ's picked Troy and Gabriella to sing. At first they didn't want to but as soon as they began to sing they began to have fun. 

After the song, Troy and Gabriella talked and became friends. After New Years,  Troy saw Gabriella at school and they both wanted to sing in the drama club in the school play. When Troy and Gabriella's friends learned of their plans, they didn't like it and tried to stop them. They told them to stick to the status quo.  Sharpay the drama queen and captain of the drama club especially didn't like the idea since she's been the star of every play in the school. 

What will Troy and Gabriella do? Find out in the book!

Why: I liked this book a lot because it was an interesting story about friendship and high school.

Book Review: Descendants 3 Junior Novel by Disney Book Group, Carin Davis



Summary: Auradon is  happy place for all the villain kids and Auradon kids who live there. The villain kids (or VK's for short) Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay are collecting 4 new villain kids on the Isle of the Lost to go to Auradon Prep  to live happier lives and hopefully decide to be good.

The 4 chosen kids were Dizzy  Celia, Squeaky , and Squirmy. but when the VK's try to leave with the new students, Hades almost escapes the Isle. Meanwhile, back in Auradon Audrey and her grandmother are watching on television with the rest of Auradon prep.  

Audrey doesn't like vks at all and wishes they wouldn't come in to Auradon but they do. When the VKs  come back, Ben proposes to Mal which makes Audrey even madder! All her life, Audrey was planning to be queen and now a vk was going to be queen! Audrey knew something had to be done. Read the rest of the book to see what happens...

Why? because it is an interesting  book about magic and friendship. It is also the novel of Disney Descendants 3 (as seen on the Disney Channel).

Scary Scale 0-10 ;  0
Why? Because even if Audrey is evil,  she doesn't kill anyone and there is no violence.

Book Review: Disney Descendants School of Secrets 3 Ally's Mad Mystery by Jessica Brody



Summary : Ally, daughter of Alice in Wonderland , loves mystery's and tries to find them around Auradon. One day, Ally was helping out at her mothers tea house. When she steeped on a floorboard,  it broke and she felt something inside. It was a family heirloom clock that her mother found in wonderland. It was dirty so she tried to clean it but her cat made her drop it and it broke. 

Her mother would be upset so she hid it in her pocket. After she hid it, she had to go to her party  with her cake. It was 3 layered with blue and white frosting. She remembered she left the cream for her scones at the café so she rushed there and back. When she got back, her cake was gone! 

Ally knew this was a mystery worth solving so she started looking for clues of who done it. Later that day,  her friend Jane's bracelet went missing as well. Ally helped her look but it was nowhere in sight. Ally noticed that maybe the 3 mystery's has something to do with each other and Tweetletown,    where all of Alice's Wonderland friends live. Ally and Jane go on an adventure to Twetteltown to solve the mystery!

Why: Because it is a very interesting mystery book about Disney Descendants but with more characters and stories. 

Scary Rating  Scale 0-10: 0 
Why: Because it is a mystery but there is no violence or monsters.

Book Review: Disney Zombies The Junior Novelization. Adapted by Judy Katschke

Summary : There is a town named Seabrook where everyone and everything  is perfect , well almost everything. 40 years ago an explosion at a power plant turned half of the town into zombies. The humans put them away to another part of town they named Zombieland and gave the zombies organic z-band the made them act nearly human and stopped them from hurting people. Now 40 years later zombies,  including a zombie named Zed, will be attending a human school for the first time. Zed the zombie wants to try out for the football team. On the other side of town a girl named Addison is getting ready for the high school cheerleading team and she is a totally  normal teen or is she? Addison has a big secret. She was born with white hair and has worn a wig as long as she can remember in order to fit in. At school, Addison and Zed meet at the zombie safe room and become friends, maybe someday they'll be allowed to hang out in public and someday Seabrook will accept zombies. 


Star rating : five stars 
Why ? because it's an interesting book based on a movie I love and because it is about celebrating differences .  Scary scale from 0-10 ; 0 

Why ? Because you may think zombies are scary and based on the monster but in the book zombies aren't scary and they're just trying to fit in. 

Bonus: There is a chapter that isn't in the movie but is in the book!
